‘The earth is undergoing a period of intense techno-scientific transformations. If no remedy is found, the ecological disequilibrium this has generated will ultimately threaten the continuation of life on the planet’s
surface’ Felix Guattari. I believe that we have a future. I believe we have the ability to live in an ecology, mentally, socially and environmentally which does not cause harm to humans or ecosystems nor make our future vulnerable. I have a vision that one day this and every generation will connect, rise up and acknowledge that our very existence is based on the one thing we punish the most. Consuming certain products and services has the capability to indirectly be less beneficial to our existence because of the way they have been made, hiding their journey of production from sight and what has been sacrificed to create them. In our search of material desire and convenience we could find our end. But this does not have to be. We have the ability to choose what we need and what we simply want, what to indorse and what not, we hold the key to our future. We live in a world which has the technologies to correct our mistakes if only we could brave the change to use it. We can push forward through designing tools, objects and processes that can give us as a world population the chance to survive in our chosen location. Hope is a beautiful thing, but, by itself is simply not adequate. Thomas Edison once said, ‘Vision without execution is hallucination’. By addressing the cause and not the symptom of problems, by understanding that individuals doing the smallest things collectively can make the biggest difference, by making slightest of redirections can cause the most important changes. By making bold choices and not being fearful of having to try again, by knowing what decisions we are making, through designing and supporting platforms and micro projects with macro outlooks and not by watching our cheques bounce when we try to pick up the cost of devastation can help secure our future.......
